Apple ‘Scary Fast’ event 2023: review of new products from the presentation

During the night of October 30th to 31st, Apple held its second autumn presentation, titled “Scary Fast.” This Apple event was timed to coincide with the celebration of Halloween, which is traditionally observed on the last day of October.

At the Scary Fast presentation, Apple revealed some big new products. Unlike the previous event, which showcased new iPhones, smartwatches, and headphones, ‘Scary Fast’ featured the introduction of 4-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with new M3 chips, as well as a 24-inch iMac.

Below, we provide more details about the highlights of Apple’s latest presentation in 2023.

A more powerful line of chips – M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max

As expected, Apple’s M3 processors took the spotlight during the Scary Fast event. The new lineup includes the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips. According to Apple, these are the “first chips for personal computers” manufactured using a more efficient 3-nanometer process.

In addition to the faster and more efficient processor, all three chips have been upgraded with a graphics processor that supports ray tracing, mesh shading, and dynamic caching. This feature optimizes the device’s memory usage during tasks.

Furthermore, Apple M3 chips offer up to 128 GB of unified memory. The most powerful M3 Max chip, on the other hand, boasts an impressive 92 billion transistors, a 40-core graphics processor, and a 16-core processor.

Updated 24-inch iMac with M3 chip

The new 24-inch iMac has received an update; it now operates with the M3 chip, which, according to Apple, is twice as powerful as the previous M1.

The updated iMac continues to impress with its Retina 4.5K display, capable of displaying over a billion colors. It supports Wi-Fi 6E and includes a high-resolution 1080p camera.

On the back of the iMac, there are four USB-C ports, with two of them being compatible with Thunderbolt 4. The camera, six built-in speakers, and studio-quality microphones remain unchanged.

Additionally, the iMac offers up to 24 GB of unified memory and is available in seven colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. The iMac comes with matching accessories, although they still feature Lightning connectors. Whether the brand will change the connector in the future is currently unknown.

As for the prices, here’s the breakdown: the 24-inch iMac with an 8-core processor costs $1299, and the 24-inch iMac with a 10-core processor is priced at $1499. Pre-orders are available now, and Apple devices will be accessible starting from November 7th.

Refreshed MacBook Pro with M3 processor

At the Scary Fast presentation, Apple also unveiled new MacBook Pro models: 14-inch and 16-inch versions equipped with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. Both laptops feature mini-LED displays, a 1080p camera, a six-speaker audio system, extended battery life, and up to 128 GB of RAM.
